CERT is a FEMA approved public safety program designed for you, your neighbors and co-workers. You’ll learn what you need to know about the risks facing your community, how to put out small fires, provide basic first aid, medical triage, light search and rescue and team organization.
CERT provides a forum for professional first response agencies to work with the community. Trained and prepared citizens can safely respond to an emergency. CERT is our community’s answer to effective emergency preparedness.
Why CERT training?
CERT makes good sense. Community members trained in first response techniques will save lives. Services will be unavailable for an extended period of time after a major natural or manmade disaster. No one knows how communications, utilities, water, food distribution and access to emergency medical attention will be affected.
What is certain is that a citizenry that is trained and prepared to assist professional responders as an organized team will provide an immediate, immeasurable benefit to the community in the event of an emergency.
Preparedness is an attitude. Be ready to help yourself, your family and your neighborhood.
